Long before wellness became an industry, human beings had already developed an extraordinary relationship with plants. There is archaeological evidence suggesting that medicinal plants may have been recognised and used by humans more than 50,000 years ago, and by the time of the ancient civilisations of Egypt and Mesopotamia, plant-based preparations had become part of documented systems of medicine, beauty and care.
For thousands of years, plants have been used to nourish, soothe, scent, cleanse, restore and create moments of ceremony. And yet, somewhere along the way, many of us have become disconnected from that relationship.
