International Maisons of Fine Fragrance

International Maison of Fine Fragrance

At the International Maison of Fine Fragrance, I experienced what can only be described as a symphony of fine fragrance, elegance layered with intention, and stories distilled into scent. Every house carried its own rhythm, its own heritage, its own emotional signature.

Farmacia SS. Annunziata 1561
At the International Maisons of Fine Fragrances, Farmacia SS. Annunziata 1561 felt like stepping into Florentine heritage itself, refined, artisanal, and quietly confident.

The fragrance that captivated me most was Whisky Noble. Subtle, yet undeniably powerful. It doesn’t announce itself loudly; it lingers with depth, smooth woods, warmth, and quiet sophistication. A scent that feels tailored rather than performed.

A beautiful insight I was given: visit Florence in May, when the city blooms into a sea of purple irises at the Giardino dell’Iris. The iris, Florence’s emblem, captures the same understated elegance I experienced in their fragrances.

Molto bene, heritage, artistry, and story, distilled into scent.

Angela Flanders creates fragrances that do more than scent the skin, they awaken memory.

Leather Rosa transported me instantly to my father’s rose garden when I was a child. The soft bloom of rose intertwined with supple leather felt like walking back through time. The scene unfolds gently, as though you are moving through the chapters of your life, reliving each happy memory with clarity and warmth.

There is depth here. Heritage. Story. Each composition feels steeped in history, yet profoundly personal.

A true olfactory journey, discover it in Spitalfields.

Castle Forbes creates some of the most exquisite gentleman’s fragrances and shaving formulations I experienced. The house prides itself on exceptional raw materials, nothing diluted, nothing compromised, resulting in compositions that feel precise, refined, and enduring.

It is the epitome of a true gentleman: understated confidence, heritage craftsmanship, and uncompromising quality.

The Lavender Shaving Cream, in particular, oozes opulence. Rich, aromatic, and impeccably smooth, it transforms a daily ritual into something elevated, a firm favourite.

A brand where tradition meets impeccable execution.

Told London candles are housed in the most beautiful hand-drawn porcelain vessels, true decorative pieces as much as they are fragrance experiences. Each illustration feels intentional and artistic, elevating the candle into an object of permanence rather than something disposable.

The scents are deeply evocative, designed to trigger thought and memory, gently transporting you to moments, places, and emotions long held.

Sustainable and natural in their composition, they align craftsmanship with conscious creation.

Night Blooms stands out as the signature, rich, atmospheric, and quietly captivating. A must-have for a home that values beauty, story, and sensory depth.

Ascetic Aesthete is a deeply moving dedication to the founder’s late mother, a brand born from love, memory, and reverence. There is something profoundly intentional about it; nothing feels excessive, nothing ornamental without purpose.

The fragrance Love Addiction was especially powerful for me. It transported me straight back to being six years old, saying goodbye to my mum in the playground. A fleeting childhood moment, yet one charged with emotion. That is the strength of this house, it provokes reflection. It makes you feel.

The packaging is clean, refined, and quietly confident. A true less is more impact. No noise, just meaning.

This is absolutely a brand to watch, thoughtful, evocative, and beautifully restrained.

Scent of Africa delivers fragrances that are both fresh and powerful, compositions with presence, clarity, and undeniable identity.

The house sources raw materials directly from Africa, celebrating the richness, depth, and diversity of the continent through scent. There is an authenticity here that feels intentional and proudly rooted.

The aesthetic is striking and distinctive, unlike anything I have encountered before. It stands apart, confidently.

Hage is the standout. Bold yet refined, it captures strength with elegance, a scent that leaves a memorable impression.

Royal Glory was, without question, my absolute favourite.

Every single scent I experienced was exquisite, refined, balanced, and beautifully composed. This is elegance personified through fragrance. There is no excess, no confusion, just clarity, grace, and intention in every bottle.

Meeting the founder was equally memorable. She was warm, kind, and an absolute joy to speak with, and that generosity of spirit genuinely translates into her creations. You can feel the heart behind the house.

Choosing a favourite was incredibly difficult, but Je t’aime captured me. Romantic, poised, and quietly captivating , a scent that lingers both on the skin and in the memory.

Max Foucat was utterly captivating.

He has distilled three fragrances from his travels, three distinct locations translated into three scents, each directly linked to his clothing collection. The cohesion between fabric, form, and fragrance is intentional and conceptually rigorous. This is not simply branding; it is narrative architecture.

Calling it intelligent feels insufficient. It is deeply thoughtful, rare in its execution, and genuinely unique. Every detail connects, geography, memory, textile, scent, forming a complete creative ecosystem.

I was blown away by the story and the clarity of vision behind it.

Max is absolutely one to watch.

The Perfume Movement is still in its infancy, yet its concept is undeniably compelling. The brand uses AI to formulate a uniquely personalised scent, translating data, preferences, and perhaps even personality markers into fragrance.

It will be fascinating to see how this evolves once fully operational. Scent is deeply personal, layered with memory, identity, and emotion, so I am especially curious to experience how an algorithm interprets me as an individual.

If executed well, this could redefine the relationship between technology and olfaction.

One to observe closely as it launches.

Maison Mirwad presents a collection of truly captivating scents, rich, layered, and confidently composed.

The fragrances are crafted by the renowned nose Philippe Paparella, whom I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with. There is depth and precision in his work; each composition feels intentional and beautifully structured.

Oud Velours completely took me away. This is oud elevated to another level, smooth, enveloping, and velvety rather than overpowering. It carries strength with refinement.

I wasn’t able to secure samples, which simply means one thing, I may need to take a trip to Qatarto explore further.

A special thank you to Valerie Kaminov and the entire team for hosting such a captivating and beautifully curated event. It was a privilege to experience it.
